While the effect of rooms-above-rooms can be _simulated_ in Build, there are never really any rooms on top of other rooms in the game, and thus it's not truly 3D. Throughout the game, youll visit different locations such as Los Angeles, underwater cities or the Moon. (Note: Several people have emailed me to comment that there ARE rooms-above-rooms in Duke3D. Duke Nukem 3D turns you into Duke, a nervy and tacky guy who is Earths last chance at destroying aliens and rescuing women who have been abducted.

You can tell that a lot of time and care went into this release. Lots of fun! The first of several games using Ken Silverman's versatile engine, Duke Nukem 3D gets a lot right and has just the right 'feel', especially in the introductory shareware episode.

It uses the 'Build' engine, which is still similar to the old Wolf3D engine in that there are no rooms on top of other rooms, but the Build engine includes many new features, like walls of different heights and angles, lighting effects, and a versatile scripting system.
